Keith Calhoun is from North Carolina and was part of the 2nd wave of Telemark skiers in Crested Butte in the late 1970s. He helped pioneer some of the early Telemark ski racing during that time as well as influence the equipment that was being used, including Steincomp style boots.

He currently lives back in North Carolina about 15 minutes from the Cataloochee ski area and still Telemark skis today. In fact he still spends one month every winter in his old stomping grounds of Crested Butte, Colorado.
