The Freeheel Life Podcast

Mar 8, 2021

Russell Johnson has been Telemark skiing for 4 decades. He is originally from Illinois but moved to Utah as a teenager. It was then that he learned how to ski and later started Telemark skiing when he was working at the Rustler Lodge at Alta, UT. He was involved in racing through the famed Groundhog Day Race at Alta Ski Area, Wasatch Telemark Series and others around Utah and Colorado.

His father is 88 years old also Telemark skis as well as his wife and 2 sons. He started teaching his sons, Taylor and Alex, to Telemark ski around the age of 8 years-old and they still do it today. He and his son Taylor Johnson, aka @teletay, were some of my first customers at Freeheel Life the first year we were open.
