Erik Nordin is originally from Rättvik, Sweden. He is the youngest child and grew up in a family full of Telemark skiers. Once he could fit into some of the hand me down Telemark boots from his siblings, he never looked back and has been a Telemark skier ever since. As a young teenager he primarily focused on skiing in the terrain park at his home mountain of Kläppen. By age 14 he was already competing at the Scandinavian Big Mountain Championships in the much bigger mountains of Riksgränsen, in the Lappland area of Sweden.
After finishing school he decided to improve his big mountain skills by moving to Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. This vastly improved his Telemark skills and in the years to come he competed and won 4 Scandinavian Big Mountain Telemark Championship titles.
